What an amazing experience this was; we climbed to 1400 ft sat on the edge of the plane then dropped like a stone. After the initial shock we did freefall for 80 seconds then the parachute opened and everything suddenly went silent.
As I looked up I could see my colleagues high above dropping from the plane one by one. It was fantastic – I would encourage anyone to do it. It didn’t last long but is an experience that I will remember forever. I raised over £500 for our service users and the cancer charity ‘The Christie’ in Manchester.
I even got the jump filmed so can re-live it over and over again; the more I watch it the more I want to do it again.
We finally found a break in the bad weather to do our parachute jump on Saturday 10th october. What an experience !
After several attempts to complete the jump we have been up against the Great British weather and have not managed to do it yet.
We are booked on for 3rd October so lets hope for a clear, still day.
Hello. It’s been a while since I wrote on here, been so busy. My father died in May which was a very difficult time. He was diagnosed with cancer last September and gradually deteriorated, I took a break from work and cared for him at home.
Earlier this month, I graduated from Leeds Met Uni which brought an end to 3 years of hard work. I’m thinking about doing a masters degree next, considering criminology and mental health as my two choices.
In a few weeks, myself and nine colleagues from the criminal justice field will be jumping out of a plane and raising money for our charities.
This summer i am doing a tandem parachute jump to raise money for our service user group. 1From 12,000 ft at 120mph, someone described it as “being as close to death as you can possibly get without actually dying”
It was originally an idea I had to celebrate my studies coming to an end, but then I realised they’ll never come to an end – just parts of them will.
I will keep you informed……………………..
