Making life easier and instant chat on wired in

So since I’ve been here I’ve noticed how hard it is for someone new or not computer literate to use this site. And for me I also found it very difficult to navigate around and I can build and programme computers. My main issue was with obvious buttons for things like adding entries, blogging, stories etc.

It took me about 30 minutes to work it out first time round and now it still takes me about five minutes to remember where to navigate. I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this, but in my opinion it would make the site more user friendly especially for the non computer whiz kids.

A few suggestions I’d like to add would be instant chatting or discussion forums – also private messaging to friends etc.

I also think you might want to expand maybe getting a bigger server and more bandwidth because the site seems to lag a lot. And it won’t get any better when more people come along.

So it would be good if people could throw feedback into this and maybe look into some of the things I’ve mentioned?

Hi JJ,

You have just described the wired in wish list. I am not sure how much you know about the history of this community but one of the constant struggles we have is finding any funds.

However, we will be announcing some sponsorship soon and much of what you mention is under development. So watch this space. Ad if you know anyone with a few grand spare I am sure we could use it!
