CandleLight Vigil photographs

Here are some photographs from the 2nd Merseyside CandleLight Vigil held in Liverpool on 29th May, where we remembered those people lost to addiction and alcoholism.

It was a very special evening.

Still brings tears to my eyes and I wasn’t even there.

It was an amazing evening. And a mixture of so many different people attending. Community is so important in recovery.

Thankyou David for creating this community too……….

Community is very important for recovery.

One of the key aspects essential for recovery in the seminal Biernacki research (see Ex-Users section) was “to be accepted as normal by so-called ‘normal’ society”. Being part of a community is key.

White also talks about the need of shifting people from a culture of addiction to a culture of recovery – we are creating part of that culture of recovery.

I loved the invitation too so that those who were not well or unable to attend for some other reason were able to be there in spirit. An invitation to be with others in spirit is so important. To be in spirit, to be with in spirit are they bases of everything.
