The doctor that Polly goes to will only deal with her methadone and that is all. It’s the drug clinic and he keeps it that way. Polly has spoken to him a lot about what has been happening, but he just ignores it and says this is a drug clinic. Even her drug councillor didn’t want to know.
When she goes they always say, “Pauline your very hyper and happy”, and they have even asked her if she had been using so its not as if they don’t see it. They just ignore it which makes me really angry. YeaH, your put in a pigeon hole – addict, ex user – sod the rest of your health.
I phoned her earlier and she sounded really hyper. She is doing the housework, so I have told her to try and calm down, deep breathing and tapping her chest.
I’ll phone her later tomorrow to see how she is and see if she heard back from the interview…

It is bad isn’t it – so much for caring about the whole person.
Hope it is good news tomorrow with the interview. Have still got my fingers crossed – but they seem to have turned blue!
sounds familiar, what health board area is polly in Linda? does she have access to a GP for her general health?
Pucker Linda you keep bloging and updating the huge problems you are all facing and trying to support each other with.
Annemarie W has a very good point, She legally is entitled to a GP, one will be dsiginated to her with the area she lives in – also this will be done ASAP. because of her addiction. Also she has total rights to ask for the closest Surgery to her Address and has total legal preferance to what gender the GP is: this should be set up within 48 hours.
Once this is done! then all parties should be able to work together for her best interests.
This is difficult Linda. The old dual diagnosis pillar to post scenario. As Martin and Annemarie point our, Polly is legally entitled to a doctor.
This sounds oh so familiar Linda.
It’s as if ‘they’ only see the person as an addict and not as someone having other medical needs or issues.
I agree with everyone else,Polly is entitled to have complete care…and that means having a GP!
